Freaking out....

I've had a pretty horrible week after receiving this news on Sunday.
I've had weird dreams about my best friend, babies, pregnant women, lots of baby bumps......
I've been in a bad mood most of the week, both at home and at work. People asking me if I'm ok, asking what's going on because I didn't seem like my usual self.
At home I've had a hard time handling the kids. I have NO patience with them right now.

I'm just not me right now. I'm trying to get my head around the news, trying to put myself in her shoes as it also can't be easy for her. Trying to think of how I can be a better friend because I think I've been a horrible friend. I apologized to her for my bad reaction last week and she said there's no need to apologize, she totally understood my reaction.
Dinner tomorrow is cancelled because she's stuck in bed with back pain. I hope we can meet up next week. I really feel like we need to have that evening together.....

My week was not better on the spotting front either.
After seeing my doc on the 27th, T and I set about to follow her instructions. Mind you, doing it on a schedule was not easy, but we were good and did it as instructed.
After seeing her, the spotting continued. It even turned from brown to reddish. I wasn't really worried because she had done the u/s and seen nothing abnormal.

It's now the 8th and I've been spotting for 2 weeks straight. Not huge bleeding, but enough spotting to not be able to go without panty liner(s).
I called my doc today because I'm starting to get worried.

My PAP results weren't in yet.
I told her about the spotting/bleeding again and told her it was starting to worry me.
We talked a bit, going over my last cycle and the appointment 9 days ago..... She asked if I tested in February because my period was late. Yes, I tested. It was negative. I got my period on the 15th. A heavy period, lots for bleeding, cramping.....
She said I can't do much except wait. And test again.
If it's negative wait till this cycle is over and then come in so she can monitor and stimulate my next cycle.
Call her back if it's positive.

I was never ever expecting this:

I'm freaking out now.
I called the doctor's office back when I got this result, couldn't get my doc on the phone because she had left for the day.
I explained everything to the receptionist and said I urgently needed an appointment as soon as possible.
I can go Monday at 2:15 pm. That's more than 2 days I have to wait......

If I'm pregnant, good.
If it's a miscarriage, I'll be sad but at least it would explain some things.
What I'm freaked out about is it being ectopic.

It can't be normal that I've been spotting for 2 weeks. And I had my period 3 weeks ago (or at least I thought it was my period).

I so hope that the weekend passes quickly (yeah, you'll never hear me saying that one again!) and that I don't start having stomach pains as I did a couple of years ago with my ectopic.....
Part of me hopes this is a miscarriage.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want anything more than for this to be a good, healthy pregnancy. But I'm just not sure.

Please just keep your fingers crossed that this isn't an ectopic pregnancy. I do not want to go through a surgery again.....

In shock......

I don't know how to even describe what I'm feeling right now. Shock just does not do it.

We had a birthday party for X today. My mom and brother were here, my best friend who is X's godmother, my in-laws couldn't make it......

At one point my best friend said we should go outside and talk.....so we did.
She said "I don't know how to say this, so I'm just going to say it. I'm pregnant."

This was the last thing I was ever expecting her to say. She has two daughters, only ever wanted two kids, went back on birth control and thought I was crazy for wanting a third baby..... She was supportive of me having a third, don't get me wrong, but was very adamant that she did not want another baby.

She was afraid to tell me, afraid of how I would react...... She's 8 weeks. She said it's still early, anything can happen....

I was shocked, still am. She's the last person I was ever expecting to tell me something like this.

I am not proud of how I reacted. I didn't know how to react. I didn't know what to say. I didn't know what to think.

She got pregnant by accident. She was on the pill.
Her boyfriend wanted her to get an abortion. She made an appointment but cancelled it because she just can't do that.
She's freaked out. Didn't want a baby, still doesn't. But she'll deal with it. She has no idea how they'll manage. It wasn't planned, it doesn't really fit into their lives anymore.....She was glad to have her girls in school and getting a bit of their lives back, being able to do stuff with older kids, being out of diapers and bottles.....

She said it's unfair. I wanted it so bad, I've had an ectopic and lost Dylan and have been trying for almost a year again to get pregnant. And here she is, pregnant by accident. She said "I only have to look at a penis and I get pregnant. You want it so badly and still aren't...."

I get that she didn't want to tell me. I think I wouldn't want to tell me.

All of what happened does not mean that I don't think a pregnancy is a beautiful thing. Yes, I want it for me. But I also think it's a beautiful thing for others.

She is not in a good place right now. She does not think this is a beautiful thing or a thing to be happy about.
I want to be there for her. I wish she would have told me earlier. Being there for her is going to be hard. But she is my best friend. And I will be there for her no matter what.

We're going out to dinner next weekend. Just the two of us. That gives me a week to process this. To get my head around it and to be there for her, no matter what happens or she decides.

Appointment and instructions

I'm back from my appointment with my doc.

She did yet another PAP smear. I think that makes 3 in 7 or so months. Lets hope this one has good results.

I told her about the brown discharge and she did an ultrasound to make sure everything is ok.

My uterus looks good and I have a follicle ready to ovulate. She measured it, it's 15 mm and she predicted that I will ovulate on Saturday.
So nothing on Friday, se.x on Saturday, nothing on Sunday and again on Monday.
Lets see how T will react to a "schedule" :-)

There was nothing there to explain this weird discharge I'm having. No cysts or anything else..... The only explanation she had was that my last cycle got messed up because we went on vacation in the mountains. Apparently differences in altitude can mess up a cycle....
The discharge is barely even there today.
At least now I know that there's nothing there for me to worry about even though I don't have an explanation of what it actually is.

I will inform T of my doc's instructions tonight and hope he can get his head around having planned interc.ourse.
Most months I try to time it so it's around ovulation, but I never really tell him. Although I assume he must know that I try to time it, he can also count!! :-)

Question

----- TMI alert -----

My period was 5 days late this month.
I tested, it was negative. Then I got a pretty heavy period.

My period lasted 5-6 days.
I stopped bleeding last Wednesday.

Since Friday I've had a little bit of brown discharge. It was very minimal so I didn't really worry about it.

Tonight, after I went to the bathroom, it became a lot of brown discharge. It even has some tiny hints of red in it.

I have no idea what this is.
I've never had it before and it's actually starting to freak me out a bit.

Has anyone had this?

I have an appointment on Wednesday for a PAP, I'll be sure to ask what it could be. Until then I'll just try to not worry I guess......

Vacation

I am not at work today and I won't be at work all week next week. YAY!!!!

We are going on vacation. To the mountains!!!!

I love the mountains, I miss the mountains so much.

We're leaving for Ital.y tonight, hopefully arriving around lunchtime tomorrow. We'll "move into" our little house for the week, get skis and skiing lessons sorted for the kids and on Sunday we'll be on the slopes!!!
I can not wait!!!

I'll be away from my blog until we get back home the weekend after as there is no internet in the house we rented.

A week break from all that is internet is probably not so bad.
Time for me to clear my head, enjoy the mountains, the snow and especially our little family.

I hope everyone has a fabulous week and I can't wait to read up on everyone's blogs when I get back!

xx

A big thank you to my good friend at Ready For My Turn for giving me the reward!!

So here is how this blog award works:

Here are my 11 random facts:

1.  I read in a book every day. I can't sleep if I haven't read. Even just a page or two. And I take my book with me everywhere I go. It drives T crazy sometimes because I zone out and don't hear him when he talks to me and I'm reading.
2.  I refuse to get a kin.dle or any other digital reading device. I buy books. Lots of them. Books smell good. Bookstores smell wonderful and I could spend hours in them!
3. I have over 50 pairs of shoes. Boots, slippers, high heels, sneakers..... I have it all. And I wear all of them. I guess I'm a bit of a shoe addict....
4. I love shopping. My best friend and I spend many Saturdays shopping. Even if I don't buy anything, I enjoy it. Of course, my closet is kind of full because I enjoy shopping so much and do it so often :-)
5. I live in Belg.ium. I lived here till I was 10, then moved to the U.S and 3 years later to Switze.rland. Being back here still doesn't really feel like being home, though if you ask me I couldn't tell you which country is home ....
6. I love the mountains. I miss the mountains very much. When we drive towards the alps I get all excited
7. I used to have a belly button piercing but took it out when I was pregnant with X. I always said I would get it pierced again some day but I don't think I'll ever have a completely flat tummy again and maybe I'm just a little bit too old for a piercing now....
8. I speak 3 languages, fluently. Dutch, English and German.
9. I love to sleep. I'll sleep 9 hours most nights.
10. I leave my shoes all over the house. I don't take them off when I come home, even though that's what I've taught the boys to do. I take them off in random places around the house and leave them there.
11. I've had a girls' name picked out most of my life. Ironic that I have 3 boys....
